Abstract

The concept of remediation articulates the gradual transition from action to response, from adjustment to remediation, from form to reformatting, from mediation to remediation, and from information to financial information. These changes are not trivial. It highlights the need for rebalancing, repositioning policies and information, communication and digital strategies. Following this logic, this article views social media as a tool for social improvement, i.e. a tool for addressing specific issues related to people's place in society and their relationships with others. By supporting speeches and social interventions in various virtual discussion forums, social media helps citizens reconnect with the "palaver tree" and "smile" of traditional African societies.
