Abstract
Introduction: Radiation protection of pediatric patients is a major concern for pediatric computed tomography (CT). Sensitive organs such as the brain and thyroid gland. Purpose: To evaluate the practice of pediatric CT on CT devices by radiologists and technicians. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted in 26 hospitals located in different regions of Saudi Arabia. total 200 Printed copies of the questionnaires were manually distributed and collected for analysis. A total of 117 surveys were completed. 49 were collected from the radiology department, while they were collected from technology. RESULTS: For infants with hydrocephalus, 65% of radiologists requested an ultrasound (USA), and 24% requested a CT scan of the head. 10% ordered magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and regular x-rays for diagnosis. When appealing to a pediatric patient For persistent headache, CT and MRI were recommended by the radiologist for diagnosis by 59% and 27%, respectively.Conclusion: Most radiologists use CT head scan to diagnose persistent headache (59%) and ventricular peritoneal shunt.
